My Day Zero List: 101 Things in 1001 Days

I first learned of this wonderful idea in December of 2010, when I stumbled across the Day Zero Project website. 

The mission (should you accept) is to make a list of 101 easily attainable goals that you can accomplish in 1001 days or 2.75 years.  Now don't make them too easy but make reasonable goals.  Given my love of lists and planning I have decided to try it.  This isn't meant to be a bucket list -- this is something totally different.

It took me several hours (okay, more like several days) to write this list and I'm still not finished.  It's not as easy as what you would think.  I found it quite challenging but I already feel a sense of accomplishment.  Now if I can only keep going until my completion date.

To keep myself accountable, I plan to write an update on my progress every 3 months, or whenever I make a significant amount of progress.

So, without further ado, here is my uncompleted list:
  1. Make a custom cookbook
  2. Make a list of 30 recipes I want to cook and cook them
  3. Learn 101 ASL signs
  4. Be able to do 101 squats
  5. Organize a scavenger hunt around the city for my friends
  6. Participate in Geocaching
  7. Research my family tree
  8. Take a moonlit walk on the beach
  9. Make our balcony more attractive for visitors
  10. Make our entrance more attractive for visitors
  11. Tame the jungle (a.k.a the garden)
  12. Visit 5 different museums
  13. Pay for someone else's food behind me at the drive-thru
  14. Watch 26 movies I've never seen starting with each letter of the alphabet
  15. Find a personally inspirational quote and work it into a piece of art/home decor
  16. Influence someone to make a Day Zero list
  17. Make a list of 101 quotes that inspire me
  18. Watch the sunrise and sunset in the same day
  19. Clean out my closet of clothes that don't fit
  20. Participate in Operations Beautiful (http://operationbeautiful.com)
  21. Develop and manage a monthly meal plan for 3 months
  22. Learn to use my Silhouette Cameo
  23. Make at least 3 scrapbooks
  24. Have a game night once a week for 3 months
  25. Play mini golf
  26. Go bowling
  27. Go to a drive-in movie
  28. Have a family portrait taken
  29. Jump in a pile of leaves
  30. Learn to identify 10 constellations
  31. Take a spontaneous road trip
  32. Have a picnic
  33. Buy myself flowers
  34. Take a trip on a train (or the tri-rail)
  35. Ride the Ducks (Fort Lauderdale/Miami)

  42. Post a note on FB and create something special for the first 5 people who comment on it

  44. Get a manicure/pedicure
  45. Get my nails professionally done

  47. Learn Zumba
  48. Learn another language (Spanish)
  49. Save $25 for ever task I complete
  50. Learn basic sewing skills
  51. Make a list of 100 songs that I love and make me happy to listen to
  52. Write a love letter to my husband
  53. Go to Key West (again!)
  54. Have my picture taken with Santa
  55. Be a tourist in my own city
  56. Turn my phone off for a day
  57. Stay at a bed & breakfast
  58. Make 5 projects inspired by Pintrest
  59. Take one photo a day for a month
  60. Learn to swim
  61. Stop eating on the couch for 30 days
  62. Paint my bedroom
  63. Do a ride-along with the fire department
  64. Go to a shooting range and learn to shoot a gun
  65. Take a self-defense class
  66. Prepare a 72-hr emergency kit for hurricane season (before hurricane season!)
