My Day Zero List: 101 Things in 1001 Days

I first learned of this wonderful idea in December of 2010, when I stumbled across the Day Zero Project website. The mission (should you accept) is to make a list of 101 easily attainable goals that you can accomplish in 1001 days or 2.75 years. Now don't make them too easy but make reasonable goals. Given my love of lists and planning I have decided to try it. This isn't meant to be a bucket list -- this is something totally different.
It took me several hours (okay, more like several days) to write this list and I'm still not finished. It's not as easy as what you would think. I found it quite challenging but I already feel a sense of accomplishment. Now if I can only keep going until my completion date.
To keep myself accountable, I plan to write an update on my progress every 3 months, or whenever I make a significant amount of progress.
So, without further ado, here is my uncompleted list:
- Make a custom cookbook
- Make a list of 30 recipes I want to cook and cook them
- Learn 101 ASL signs
- Be able to do 101 squats
- Organize a scavenger hunt around the city for my friends
- Participate in Geocaching
- Research my family tree
- Take a moonlit walk on the beach
- Make our balcony more attractive for visitors
- Make our entrance more attractive for visitors
- Tame the jungle (a.k.a the garden)
- Visit 5 different museums
- Pay for someone else's food behind me at the drive-thru
- Watch 26 movies I've never seen starting with each letter of the alphabet
- Find a personally inspirational quote and work it into a piece of art/home decor
- Influence someone to make a Day Zero list
- Make a list of 101 quotes that inspire me
- Watch the sunrise and sunset in the same day
- Clean out my closet of clothes that don't fit
- Participate in Operations Beautiful (http://operationbeautiful.com)
- Develop and manage a monthly meal plan for 3 months
- Learn to use my Silhouette Cameo
- Make at least 3 scrapbooks
- Have a game night once a week for 3 months
- Play mini golf
- Go bowling
- Go to a drive-in movie
- Have a family portrait taken
- Jump in a pile of leaves
- Learn to identify 10 constellations
- Take a spontaneous road trip
- Have a picnic
- Buy myself flowers
- Take a trip on a train (or the tri-rail)
- Ride the Ducks (Fort Lauderdale/Miami)

- Post a note on FB and create something special for the first 5 people who comment on it

- Save $25 for ever task I complete
- Learn basic sewing skills
- Make a list of 100 songs that I love and make me happy to listen to
- Write a love letter to my husband
- Go to Key West (again!)
- Have my picture taken with Santa
- Be a tourist in my own city
- Turn my phone off for a day
- Stay at a bed & breakfast
- Make 5 projects inspired by Pintrest
- Take one photo a day for a month
- Learn to swim
- Stop eating on the couch for 30 days
- Paint my bedroom
- Do a ride-along with the fire department
- Go to a shooting range and learn to shoot a gun
- Take a self-defense class
- Prepare a 72-hr emergency kit for hurricane season (before hurricane season!)
