Mid-January Mission Update

Okay, so this is my mid-January update.  Things are going very well on my January Mission.  I feel energized and ready to go.  Not ready to take on the world but ready to work on my missions.  I had one main mission with an additional 3 missions to tack on.  The primary goal is in progress and coming along nicely.  The rest are almost complete and I think in the next two weeks will be accomplished.  I am so excited to add that Accomplished Button to my blog!! So here is my mid-January report!

  • Eat at the kitchen table 3 out of 7 days of the week. (More if possible.) This one I am not doing so hot on. . .Reason #1: Frequently covered with homeschool material, and #2 the primary reason -- everytime it is wiped off it smells like something died on it, SO this brings me to #2!
  • Shop for a new kitchen table and chairs.  We have limited space and we really only need space for the 3 of us but we do have guests occasionally.  We need a table that will seat 4-6 people but still fit in the area we have.  The table we currently have will fit 4-6+ people but it is just too big.  I have looked at many tables and chairs in person and online and this one keeps making its way to the top of the pile.  The price of the table is reasonable but it doesn't come with chairs -- the price of 4 chairs is more than the table.  Ugh.
The big seller for me on these two are that the leaf for the table is built in -- I don't need to find a place to stash the extra piece.  The chair I was waffling on, but the more I see it the more I like it.  I wasn't sure if I would like a plush seat -- we have indoor cats who think the kitchen is theirs.  Specifically the chairs.  I really didn't want cat hair all over them but the more I read about them, the more I liked them.  The covers are completely washable!  Sold!  I even like the fabric.  I am not sure if there are replaceable covers (I might want something new and different down the road, but if not my mother-in-law is a fantastic seamstress and I am sure I can talk her into making some for me.
  • Liven up the blog (and blog consistently!) I consider this a start.  I am still really not sure what to blog about but my initial goal was to blog every two weeks and this is the end of the second week!
  • Learn to use my new Christmas presents The Cricut Personal Cutting Machine and the Gypsy.  Let's just say the learning has begun and there is a lot to learn.  First and foremost, I need cartridges and lots of them if I want to do things with my personal cutting machine.  Although I have access to all of the cartridges via the Gypsy I can only cut with the ones I have cartridges for.  On a positive note I did find my husband found two different software programs I could use in which I can import SVG files AND use the fonts on my computer.  Currently I am in the process of designing with the both of them.  The one he found this evening is much more user friendly and cheaper as well.  I am going to continue with both and attempt to cut something this week with both.  Since I am using a trial version they will cut a watermark in both of them but it will give me an idea as to whether either will work for me.  One thing I did learn is that my designs need to be much more on the simple side.  I found a dandelion that is very neat and since a friend of mine (and former teacher) has a book coming out called Dandelion Acres, I wanted to do something to give to him.  Well the dandelion although really cool does not want to load in the program and continues to crash both.  No matter what the outcome at least I am learning something.  By the end of the week I hope to have something to show for what I have learned so far.
I think I am off to a very good start.  Let's see if I can continue with what I have started.
